Gelbvieh Association Recognizes Ring of Gold Winners
The American Gelbvieh Association has named the 2010-2011 Ring of Gold champions for points awarded to Gelbvieh and Balancer® females and bulls during qualified shows throughout the year.
The Ring of Gold champion Gelbvieh female was TFLK Whitney 251W ET owned by Green Hills Gelbvieh Farm and David Rea, Mt. Ulla, N.C. This female found herself in the winner’s circle twice, being named champion Gelbvieh female at both the American Royal and National Western Stock Show. TFLK Whitney is a March 2009 daughter of RTRT Solution.
The Dromgoole’s Heaven, Richmond, Texas own the runner-up Ring of Gold Gelbvieh female. JDPD 46SX ET is a March 2010 daughter of EBY Western Hauler 028S
The Ring of Gold champion Gelbvieh bull was GGGE 3G Excalibur 055X owned by Emily Griffiths, Kendallville, Ind. He is a March 2010 son of SLC Freedom 178F. This bull earned points at the Iowa State Fair, Kentucky State Fair, N.A.I.L.E., National Western Stock Show, and was reserve champion Gelbvieh bull at the American Royal.
The runner-up Ring of Gold Gelbvieh bull is owned by Jim and Barb Beastrom, Pierre, S.D. BEA 0001X is a February 2010 son of RID R Collateral 2R.
The honors of Ring of Gold champion Balancer female went EGL Tessa W102 ET, Eagle Pass Ranch/LeDoux Ranch, Mansfield, S.D. This January 2009 daughter of EGL Tenderloin N407 was the 2011 national champion Gelbvieh female at the National Western Stock Show.
The runner-up Ring of Gold Balancer female is owned by Britney Volek, Highmore, S.D. BVLK Martini 905W is a March 2009 daughter of LaGrand MAF Antitdote.
Emily Griffiths also owns the Ring of Gold champion Balancer bull. GGGE 3G Warlock 928W was born in February 2009 and was sired by GGGE 3G Smoke N’ Mirrors. This bull was champion Balancer bull at the 2010 American Royal and Iowa State Fair, and was reserve champion at the N.A.I.L.E. and National Western Stock Show.
Jumping Cow Gelbvieh, Ramah, Colo., bred the runner-up Ring of Gold Balancer bull. JCGR BAR GT Cross Fire 500W is a July 2009 son of RID R Collateral 2R.
The American Gelbvieh Association established the Ring of Gold program to encourage breeders to participate in livestock shows and to honor the top animals shown at the conclusion of a show year. Points are earned for grand and reserve grand champions, as well as division champions and reserves, and are based on the actual number of animals shown in each qualified show.
