The American Gelbvieh Junior Association (AGJA) held their 2013 No Fences Western Regional Show May 24-26 in Columbus, Kan. A total of 57 head were exhibited by members of the AGJA from Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. Judge Tyler Dewey, Miami, Okla., evaluated the 27 Gelbvieh females, two Gelbvieh bulls, 24 Balancer® females, three Balancer bulls and one market steer.

The grand champion Gelbvieh female was exhibited by Meredith Clark, Barnard, Kan. DCSF Post Rock Wilma 294Z8 ET is a January 23, 2012 daughter of CTR Good Night 880U. This heifer first claimed the winter yearling heifer division.

The reserve champion Gelbvieh female was also exhibited by Meredith Clark. POST Foolish Pleasure 426Z8 is an October 12, 2012 daughter of DCSF Post Rock FD 261S8 ET. Coming out of the senior heifer calf division, this heifer was also named the grand champion bred and owned Gelbvieh female.

Chase Tabor, Columbus, Kan., exhibited the reserve champion bred and owned Gelbvieh female. TTTT Damn Special ET is a February 12, 2012 daughter of JRI Enhancer 53U21 and came out of the winter yearling heifer division.

The grand champion bred and owned Gelbvieh bull was exhibited by Seth Beying, Leavenworth, Kan. SDCG WhoDoo 202Z5 ET is a September 11, 2012 son of BABR Who Done It.

Sydney Bigger, Media, Ill., exhibited the reserve champion bred and owned Gelbvieh bull. SYDB Garbanzo Bean is a March 2, 2012 son of SYDB Butter Bean.

In the Balancer show, the grand champion Balancer female was exhibited by Karsyn Youngblood, Columbus, Kan. TTTT Mytty Good Girl ET is a September 21, 2011 daughter of Mytty In Focus. This heifer was first named champion senior female.

Benny McWilliams, Asbury, Mo., exhibited the reserve champion Balancer female. HTFG Ms Zippy Z542 is a March 3, 2012 daughter of JRI Enhancer 53U21 and first claimed the spring yearling heifer division.

The champion bred and owned Balancer female was exhibited by Chandler Ladner, Argonia, Kan. LCC Lady Di is a September 26, 2011 daughter of HFGC HF Roscoe 34P59 ET. She was first named champion bred and owned senior female.

Ashley Larman, Orlando, Okla., exhibited the reserve bred and owned Balancer female. LARM She’s All That came out of the junior heifer calf division and is a March 12, 2013 daughter of SJCC X Century 70X.

Chase Tabor also exhibited the grand champion bred and owned Balancer bull. TTTT Sugar Daddy ET is an August 16, 2012 son of O C C Legend 616L.

Tricia Goes, Odell, Neb., exhibited the reserve champion bred and owned Balancer bull. PMG Zephyr 03Z is March 25, 2012 son of CRAN Final Answer W24 ET.

A no-fit showmanship contest was held Saturday afternoon of the show. Champion junior showman was Karsyn Youngblood; Ashlyn Larman was reserve. In the intermediate division, Braxton Oldenburg, Mulhall, Okla., was champion; Morgan Winchester, Jasper, Mo., was reserve. Benny McWilliams claimed champion senior showman; Meredith Clark was reserve.

Two additional educational contests were held during the show, photography and quiz bowl. Jonathan Kohley, Jasper, Mo., had the champion and reserve junior division photos. In the senior photo division, Sydney Bigger won champion and reserve. The champion quiz bowl team was comprised of Sydney Bigger, Aaron Harmon and Jared Harmon, Perry, Okla.; Jessie Lowe, Adrian, Mo.; and Ashlyn Larman. The reserve quiz bowl team consisted of Logan Buffo, Lansing, Kan.; Cameron Heikes, Phillipsburg, Kan.; Seth Beying; and Logan Beying, Easton, Kan.
