2025-2026 American Gelbvieh Junior Association Board of Directors Elected

LINCOLN, Neb. – The American Gelbvieh Junior Association (AGJA) board of directors is comprised of nine AGJA members. Directors serve two-year terms and are eligible to serve two full terms. Directors must be 16 years of age but must not have reached their 20th birthday as of January 1st of the current election year.

On the 2025-2026 AGJA board of directors, we welcome Cody Brown, son of Jason and Lori Brown of Dwight, Kan.; Corbin Lowe, son of Scott and Dana Lowe of Winfield, Kan.; Justine Pope, daughter of Jeff and Jeanna Pope of Ravenna, Neb.; and Madalyn Johnson, daughter of Jason and Rebecca Johnson of Judsonia, Ark. Lincoln Martin, son of Eric and Holly Martin of Bucklin, Kan., was re-elected to a second two-year term with the board.

Additional members serving the second year of their current term are Gentry Warner, daughter of Dan and Kate Warner of Arapahoe, Neb.; Braxton Murray, son of Matthew and Andrea Murray of Kingfisher, Okla.; Teagan Butterfield, daughter of Dave and Jackie Butterfield of Atkinson, Neb.; and Isabel Lowe, daughter of Raymond and Melissa Lowe of Adrian, Mo.

The newly elected AGJA board of directors meets after the conclusion of the AGJA Annual Meeting to elect executive committee members to serve in leadership position for the 2025-2026 year. Gentry Warner was elected as president. Braxton Murray was elected as vice-president. Teagan Butterfield was elected as vice president of leadership development. Isabel Lowe was re-elected as secretary for a third term. Madalyn Johnson was elected as the treasurer for the upcoming year.

Retiring board members of the 2024-2025 AGJA board of directors included Jaycie Forbes, daughter of Troy and Pam Forbes of De Smet, S. D.; Lily Judd, daughter of Nick and Ginger Judd of Pomona, Kan.; Sadie Morris, daughter of Jason and Susan Morris of Batesville, Miss.; and Jaylea Pope, daughter of Jeff and Jeanna Pope of Ravenna, Neb. The AGJA thanks all four of them for their service and commitment to the AGJA and its members during their time served on the AGJA board of directors.

TJB Gelbvieh Named 2025 Honorary Friend of the American Gelbvieh Junior Association

LINCOLN, Neb. – Each year the American Gelbvieh Junior Association (AGJA) awards an Honorary Friend of the AGJA. The recipients of this award are families and individuals who go above and beyond to help the youth of our organization. This year’s recipient is TJB Gelbvieh operated by Todd and Alisa Bickett. The Bicketts of Chickamauga, Ga., were recognized as the Honorary Friend of the AGJA at the 2025 Grand Ole Gelbvieh Junior Classic awards banquet, which was held on Friday, June 26, 2025, in Lebanon, Tenn.

The Bicketts have been a staple in the junior program along with the American Gelbvieh Association (AGA) as a whole. Todd has served multiple terms on the AGA board of directors. He was one of the pioneers of the Gelbvieh breed who recognized the Balancer® breed to lead the industry in composite cattle registry. Although, their two daughters, Kelsey and Katelyn, have aged out of the junior program, they are still active with various roles in the TJB program.

“Every time the junior board reaches out to Todd and Alisa, without hesitation, they consistently offer their time, provide a meal, or monetary support for the junior program. They are a true example of selfless support and genuine love for this breed and the youth involved within. Congratulations to Todd and Alisa Bickett of TJB Gelbvieh as the 2025 Honorary Friend of the AGJA,” said Gentry Warner, 2025-2025 AGJA President.

Ketcherside Chosen As 2025-2026 American Gelbvieh Junior Association Ambassador

LINCOLN, Neb. – Thank you to Sarah Carroll of Raymore, Mo., for her outstanding service as the 2024-2025 American Gelbvieh Junior Association (AGJA) Ambassador. Over the past year, Sarah has represented the AGJA with integrity, passion, and commitment. She has worked to promote the Gelbvieh breed, support junior members, and completed a meaningful service project to Whetstone Boys Ranch. We are grateful for her dedication and leadership throughout her term. Now, we proudly welcome Hadlee Ketcherside of Cuba, Mo., as the 2025-2026 AGJA Ambassador.

Hadlee is a longtime AGJA member and a familiar face in and out of the showring. She brings with her a strong background and dedication to the Gelbvieh breed. She is active in her state association, school, and community, and has continually demonstrated a drive to lead and serve.

This year, the AGJA Ambassador application process included being nominated from the floor at opening ceremonies, completing an interview, and giving a speech at the AGJA Annual Meeting. A panel of judges evaluated all components, and Hadlee rose to the top as this year’s selection.

The AGJA Ambassador Program is designed to recognize and empower youth leaders who exemplify a passion for the Gelbvieh breed and a commitment to its future. As Ambassador, Hadlee will represent the AGJA at events throughout the year – from local and regional shows to national gatherings.

We look forward to Hadlee’s year of service and leadership. Congratulations, Hadlee, on being selected as the 2025-2026 AGJA Ambassador!

Excitement Builds for the 2025 American Gelbvieh Junior Association Grand Ole Gelbvieh Junior Classic

LINCOLN, Neb. – The 2025 American Gelbvieh Junior Association (AGJA) Grand Ole Gelbvieh Junior Classic is scheduled for June 23-27, 2025, in Lebanon, Tennessee. With 305 entries from 154 exhibitors traveling from 18 states and Canada, it will surely be a highlight of the summer.

The Grand Ole Gelbvieh Junior Classic will feature educational contests consisting of prepared public speaking, quiz bowl, sales talk, skill-a-thon, team fitting and livestock judging. Juniors will exhibit their animals and skills during the AGJA National Showmanship Contest, AGJA National Gelbvieh Show, AGJA National Balancer® Show, and the AGJA National Market Show.

The AGJA is excited to welcome Adrianne Trennepohl, Middletown, Ind., and Clair Trennepohl Hoblyn, York, Neb., to serve as the AGJA National Showmanship Contest judges; Tom Hawk, Earlville, Ill., as the AGJA National Balancer Show judge; and Brady Jensen, Courtland, Kan., to serve as the AGJA National Gelbvieh Show and AGJA National Market Show judge.

“The countdown is on the Grand Ole Gelbvieh Junior Classic — and we’re ready to make this summer unforgettable. This event is more than a cattle show; it’s where juniors grow into leaders, friendships turn into lifelong connections, and pride in the breed shines brightest,” said Martha Moenning, American Gelbvieh Association (AGA) member and youth activities coordinator. “We’re excited to see the next generation step up, stand out, and make their mark in and out of the showring.”

The AGJA board of directors, Tennessee Gelbvieh Association, Tennessee Gelbvieh Junior Association, and AGA staff are excited and look forward to watching champions be inducted into Grand Ole Gelbvieh history, and a grand ole time to be had by all in Lebanon.

LINCOLN, Neb. – The 2025 American Gelbvieh Junior Association (AGJA) Western Regional Show was held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, in Seward, Nebraska. Exhibitors welcomed judge Tim Loudon of Creston, Iowa, to evaluate and sort through 26 Gelbvieh and 35 Balancer® entries.

Grand Champion Gelbvieh Female was JNCC Ambrosia 3025L ET, owned by Cameron Nowack, Bland, Mo. Sired by GHGF Cow Town D536, and born June 2, 2023, this heifer first received the title of champion senior yearling heifer.

Underwood Returns to the American Gelbvieh Association

LINCOLN, Neb. — The American Gelbvieh Association (AGA) is pleased to announce that Megan Underwood has returned to serve as the Communications Coordinator. In her role, Underwood will lead the communication efforts of the association, serve as the editor of Gelbvieh World and The Profit Picture, and assist the marketing team in developing the national advertising campaign.

Underwood currently resides in Campbellsville, Kentucky, on her family’s Hereford seedstock and row crop operation. She received her bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences and Industry with a minor in Mass Communications and Journalism and a Professional Strategic Selling certificate from Kansas State University. She also received her master’s degree in Agricultural Education and Communication from K-State. Her thesis focused on the uses and gratifications of beef cattle breed association magazines for United States beef cattle producers.

“It’s an exciting time to raise cattle and the opportunities for Gelbvieh breeders are endless. I look forward to sharing their success stories to enhance the Gelbvieh and Balancer® message to the beef industry,” said Underwood. “The breeders and customers of Gelbvieh cattle are second to none and I am thrilled to work with them once again.”

Underwood brings a wealth of experience to the team through many internships with industry-leading beef organizations and breed associations, as well as her previous positions with the AGA and American Hereford Association. In her previous tenure with the AGA, Underwood grew the social media reach of the association and led the Gelbvieh World editorial efforts to receive the Livestock Publications Council’s James Flanagan Award for the most improved publication.

“We are excited to welcome Megan back to the AGA team. Her passion for the beef industry, outstanding communication skills, and proven track record with both our association and others make her an invaluable asset,” said AGA Executive Director, Harold Bertz. “Megan’s expertise and dedication will be instrumental as we advance the Gelbvieh and Balancer message within the beef industry.”
