American Gelbvieh Association Welcomes Abrahams to Staff

The American Gelbvieh Association (AGA) is pleased to announce Terisa Abrahams as the new office operations coordinator.

A Colorado native, Abrahams was born and raised in Arvada, Colorado. Prior to joining the AGA staff, she was a senior recruiter for Weatherford Oil & Gas. Abrahams has over twenty years of experience in client relation services, human resources, business development, office management, project management, and business administration.

Abrahams holds a masters of business administration in international business and a masters of arts in counseling psychology, both from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.

Abrahams will be working with the dynamic team at the AGA to coordinate general office operations, assist members with accounts and coordinate AGA functions.

Myron Edelman, AGA Executive Director, said, “The AGA recruits the most talented staff in marketing, breed improvement and member service. Terisa is a complementary fit to the skilled staff already in place at the AGA. Members, customers and industry partners are the benefactors of the expertise the AGA has been able to identify in our staff and Terisa is an outstanding addition to the team.”

Quality Bulls Exhibited During NWSS Gelbvieh and Balancer® Pen Show

The Gelbvieh and Balancer® Pen Show took place at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado on Sunday, January 11, 2015. A total of 15 pens were exhibited at this year's show. Doug Hixon, Laramie, Wyoming, judged the pen bull show.

Judd Ranch, Inc. of Pomona, Kansas, exhibited the grand champion and reserve champion pen of three Gelbvieh bulls. The champion pen included two February and one January-born bulls. The champion pen had an average weight of 1,343 pounds and an average weight per day of age of 3.94. All pen bulls are ultrasound scanned at the time of check-in. This champion pen had average actual scan data of 15.97 square inches for ribeye area, 2.78% IMF, and 0.21 inch of back fat.

The reserve pen of three Gelbvieh bulls were all February-born and had an average weight of 1,335 pounds and an average weight per day of age of 3.94 pounds. This pen's ultrasound scan data averaged a ribeye area of 16.67 square inches, 2.49% IMF, and 0.34 inch of back fat.

Judd Ranch, Inc. also exhibited the grand champion pen of five Gelbvieh bulls. This pen included four January and one March-born bulls. The pen had an average weight of 1,276 pounds and an average weight per day of age of 3.70 pounds per day. This pen had average ultrasound data of 16.08 square inches for ribeye area, 2.98% IMF, and 0.24 inch of back fat.

In the Balancer pen show, Taubenheim Gelbvieh, Amherst, Nebraska, exhibited the grand champion pen of three Balancer bulls. This pen consisted of two January and one February-born bulls that averaged 1,387 pounds and an average of 3.94 pounds per day of age. This pen's average ultrasound scan data is as follows: ribeye area of 15.25 square inches, 3.42% IMF, and 0.30 inch of back fat.

The reserve champion pen of three Balancer bulls was exhibited by Beastrom Ranch, Pierre, South Dakota. Their pen of March-born bulls had an average weight 1,231 pounds and had an average weight per day of age of 4.05. This pen averaged 14.07 square inches for ribeye area, 3.31% IMF, and 0.23 inch of back fat with their ultrasound data.

Eagle Pass Ranch, Highmore, South Dakota, exhibited the grand champion pen of five Balancer bulls. This champion pen included one January and four February-born bulls that had an average weight of 1,260 pounds and an average weight per day of age of 3.82 pounds per day. This pen's average actual ultrasound scan data was 15.29 square inches for ribeye area, 3.65% IMF, and 0.34 inch of back fat.

Taubenheim Gelbvieh claimed the reserve champion pen of five Balancer bulls. This pen of three January and two February-born bulls combined to weigh an average of 1,280 pounds, giving them an average weight per day of age of 3.69 pounds per day. This pen's ultrasound data was as follows: ribeye area of 15.33 square inches, 3.62% IMF, and 0.30 inch of back fat.

Junior Show Gelbvieh Champions Parade at NWSS

The Junior Gelbvieh and Balancer® Female Show at the National Western Stock Show was held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 in Denver, Colorado. Judge Dan Hoge, Galva, Illinois evaluated the 21 Gelbvieh and 36 Balancer females.

Sydney Taubenheim, Amherst, Nebraska, exhibited the grand champion Gelbvieh female. TAU Mia 363A is a February 3, 2013 daughter of TAU Gunnison 106R.

Brylee Thiel, Kaw City, Oklahoma, exhibited the reserve champion Gelbvieh female. STON Miss Jest 13A is a January 23, 2013 daughter of JRI Star Bucks 254Y82.

The grand champion Balancer female was exhibited by Aidan Raab, Markle, Indiana. RAAB BCFG Ms.Valentine 214B is a February 14, 2014 daughter of SAV Brilliance 8077.

Justin Teeter, Mt. Ulla, North Carolina, exhibited the reserve champion Balancer female. GHGF Whitney 25A1 ET is the November 1, 2013 daughter of PVF All Payday 729.

Champions Named at the National Gelbvieh and Balancer® Show

The 2015 National Gelbvieh and Balancer® show was held at the National Western Stock Show on Monday, January 12, 2014 in Denver, Colorado. A total of 207 animals were exhibited. Judge Greg McCurry, Sedgwick, Kansas evaluated the 54 Gelbvieh females, 49 Gelbvieh bulls, 77 Balancer females and 27 Balancer bulls.

Grand champion Gelbvieh female was TTTT Little Hottie exhibited by Chase Tabor, Stillwater, Oklahoma. This heifer is a March 27, 2013 daughter of TTTT Hott Papa ET and was first named champion junior heifer.

The reserve grand champion Gelbvieh female came out of the same junior heifer division. Sydney Taubenheim, Amherst, Nebraska, owns the reserve female TAU Mia 363A, a February 3, 2013 daughter of TAU Gunnison 106R.

Jumping Cow Gelbvieh of Ramah, Colorado and Ridinger Cattle Company of Deer Trail, Colorado own the grand champion Gelbvieh bull. RID R Outlaw 1456B is a March 16, 2014 son of CCRO Carolina Exclusive 1230Y and first claimed the spring bull calf division.

GGGE 3G Bootlegger 439B was named the reserve grand champion Gelbvieh bull. Owned by Overmiller Gelbvieh, Smith Center, Kansas and Emily Griffiths, Kendallville, Indiana, this bull is a February 2, 2014 son of GGGE 3G Zip Line 266Z and first won the winter bull calf division.

In the Balancer division, the grand champion Balancer female was GHGF Ashley 31A exhibited by Justin Teeter, Mt. Ulla, North Carolina. She is an April 1, 2013 daughter of FMGF Blue’s Impact 001X and first claimed the junior heifer division.

The reserve grand champion Balancer female came out of the spring heifer calf division. AHL Deb 467B ET is owned by J W LeDoux, Agenda, Kansas, and is the March 1, 2014 daughter of SAV Brilliance 8077.

TTTT Sugar Daddy ET was named grand champion Balancer bull. This August 16, 2012 son of OCC Legend 616L is owned by Chase Tabor, Stillwater, Oklahoma, and first claimed the senior bull division.

Boehler Gelbvieh, Orleans, Nebraska exhibited the reserve grand champion Balancer bull. XXB Insidious 23B came out of the spring bull calf division and is the March 9, 2014 son of XXB Insidious 612Y.

In the group classes, 4T Ranch, Stillwater, Oklahoma claimed champion produce of dam and Overmiller Gelbvieh, Smith Center, Kansas, claimed reserve. Champion get of sire went to Raile Gelbvieh, Saint Francis, Kansas, with reserve going to Circle S Ranch, Canton, Kansas. Champion best of four head went to 4T Ranch, Stillwater, Oklahoma and Circle S Ranch claimed reserve.

Premier breeder went to Emily Griffiths, Kendallville, Indiana and premier exhibitor went to Chase Tabor, Stillwater, Oklahoma.
