C-Cross Cattle Company hosted their annual Fall Bull and Female Sale on Saturday, November 9, 2013. The sale was held at the J-Bob Farms Sale Facility in Biscoe, N.C. The sale included an outstanding line up of older bulls, yearling bulls, elite females, including the dispersal of all the C-Cross six-year-old females, as well as a selection of quality open replacement commercial heifers.

In the bull offering, the top selling bull was Lot 59, CCRO Carolina Turbo 2238Z. He is an October 16, 2012, homozygous black, double polled son of JKGF Reflex X4 ET and out of OSOF Ms Jo-Leen 9801W. Lone Oak Gelbvieh, Mechanicsville, Iowa purchased this purebred Gelbvieh herd sire prospect for $10,000.

The second high-selling bull was Lot 84, CCRO Carolina 2208Z. This September 4, 2012, purebred Gelbvieh bull is homozygous black, homozygous polled and is sired by DCSF Post Rock Granite 200P2 out of CCRO Miss CC Carolina 0306X. Brad Burke of Full Circle Farm in Ewing, Ky., was the winning bidder at $5,100.

On the female side, the high-selling female and top lot of the sale was Lot 2, CCRO Ms C-Cross EC / 7309T, a purebred Gelbvieh cow born September 25, 2007. This is the elite donor dam sired by Flying H Exclusive who has proven herself many times over at C-Cross and ranks in the top 1 percent for marbling and carcass value. Post Rock Cattle Company and Twin Oak Gelbvieh teamed up to purchase this cow for $25,000.

C-Cross offered a flush on their donor dam EHE Miss Twila’s Focus W607 ET. She is a March 1, 2009, 50 percent Balancer female sired by Mytty in Focus and out of DCSF Post Rock Twila 223M2. Little Windy Hill Farm and J & K Gelbvieh teamed up to purchase the flush for $4,250.

Sunshine and warm weather made for a great weekend to attend the 2013 Tennessee Agribition Gelbvieh show and sale held March 8-9 in Lebanon, Tenn. A great crowd was on hand to watch the Friday show and Saturday sale.

Kicking off the sale was the grand champion bull consigned by Green Hills Gelbvieh, Mt. Ulla, N.C. Golden Spike 326Y is a 75 percent, homozygous black, homozygous polled Northern Pacific son. Russell Sorrells outlasted several bidders to own the Spike at $6,250.

The reserve grand champion bull was Lot 2, Butlers Code Red 908Y, presented by Butler Creek Farms, Milton, Tenn. This 75 percent, red son of Butler's Code Red 506T had performance and eye appeal to burn. Wade Mathis was the successful bidder at $3,900.

Other sale features included Lot 5, Butlers Power Code 359Y, from Butler Creek Farms selling for $3,950 to Jonnie Hall. Calvin Jones picked up Lot 4, Watchman 17Y, consigned by Green Hills Gelbvieh at $4,000. Colby James consigned Lot 8, Mr Joe, who was the pick of Deloy Kirby at $4,000. Kenneth Young purchased the Butler Creek Farms' Lot 12 Butlers Royal Code 10Z at $3,900. M & W Farms' Lot 7, M&W Mr Pioneer 206Z, was the choice of Dale Askew at $3,900.

Grand champion female was consigned by M & W Farms. Lot 26, WW Pure Booty 285Z, is a 50 percent Balancer open heifer sired by the M & W herd sire, VER PRTY Pioneer 0149X ET. She sold for $2,100 to Claire Garrell.

The reserve grand champion female was Lot 21, M&W Miss Lady 286Z. A March 20, 2012, 50 percent open heifer sired by EGL Cahill. She was purchased by Kendall Garrell.

The LeDoux Ranch had a bright sunny day and a full crowd for a great bull sale. The sale was held the second Saturday in February at the ranch in Agenda, Kan.  

The high selling bull was LeDoux Ranch’s 2013 People’s Choice Balancer® Bull Futurity entry, AHL Redemption 237Z.  He is a February 5, 2012 homozygous black and homozygous polled, yearling Balancer bull. Eagle Pass Ranch of Highmore, S.D., was the top bidder for possession of the bull. The following breeders bought semen packages on this outstanding herd sire: Bar Arrow Cattle Company, Phillipsburg, Kan.; DTK Cattle Company, Janesville, Iowa; Pat and Lacy McCabe and partners, Farley, Iowa; Schawang Cattle Company, David City, Neb., and C-Cross Cattle Company, Asheboro, N.C.; bringing the total sale price to $23,500 on the Lot 1 bull.

Lot 5, AHL Tenderloin 175Y, was the second high selling bull going to Cedar Top Ranch out of Stapleton, Neb., and Boehler Gelbvieh of Orleans, Neb., for $5,600. He is a 50 percent Balancer bull sired by EGL Tenderloin N407. 

Topping the female lineup was Lot 37, AHL Gorgeous 148Y, a purebred heifer with a great HXC Jackhammer heifer calf at her side. Murray Farms, Kingfisher, Okla., picked her up for $3,700.

Lot 40 and Lot 30 tied for the second high selling females of the day going for $3,000 each. Lot 40, AHL JJ 206Z, is a 50 percent BEA Passion daughter, purchased by Murray Farms. Lot 36, AHL Erica 164Y, is an Angus heifer with a SRR True Grit calf at side. This great pair went to Verner Farms LLC, Rutledge, Ga.

Volume bull buyers were Brian Dorman, Shoemaker Farms, and Jake Schneider.
