Sunshine and warm weather made for a great weekend to attend the 2013 Tennessee Agribition Gelbvieh show and sale held March 8-9 in Lebanon, Tenn. A great crowd was on hand to watch the Friday show and Saturday sale.

Kicking off the sale was the grand champion bull consigned by Green Hills Gelbvieh, Mt. Ulla, N.C. Golden Spike 326Y is a 75 percent, homozygous black, homozygous polled Northern Pacific son. Russell Sorrells outlasted several bidders to own the Spike at $6,250.

The reserve grand champion bull was Lot 2, Butlers Code Red 908Y, presented by Butler Creek Farms, Milton, Tenn. This 75 percent, red son of Butler's Code Red 506T had performance and eye appeal to burn. Wade Mathis was the successful bidder at $3,900.

Other sale features included Lot 5, Butlers Power Code 359Y, from Butler Creek Farms selling for $3,950 to Jonnie Hall. Calvin Jones picked up Lot 4, Watchman 17Y, consigned by Green Hills Gelbvieh at $4,000. Colby James consigned Lot 8, Mr Joe, who was the pick of Deloy Kirby at $4,000. Kenneth Young purchased the Butler Creek Farms' Lot 12 Butlers Royal Code 10Z at $3,900. M & W Farms' Lot 7, M&W Mr Pioneer 206Z, was the choice of Dale Askew at $3,900.

Grand champion female was consigned by M & W Farms. Lot 26, WW Pure Booty 285Z, is a 50 percent Balancer open heifer sired by the M & W herd sire, VER PRTY Pioneer 0149X ET. She sold for $2,100 to Claire Garrell.

The reserve grand champion female was Lot 21, M&W Miss Lady 286Z. A March 20, 2012, 50 percent open heifer sired by EGL Cahill. She was purchased by Kendall Garrell.
