A much anticipated sun drenched day greeted bull buyers in Mitchell, S.D., at the 16th Annual Schroeder Ranch Bull Sale on April 7, 2014. “Common Sense Cattle” offered by Schroeder Ranch found their way to seven states as bidding activity was brisk on the Gelbvieh and Balancer® bulls.
Top selling bull was Lot 45, SGRI A109 Mission, going to Jim & Barb Beastrom, Pierre, S.D., for $8,500. This February 17, 2013 polled, black Balancer bull, sired by SAV Pioneer 7301, boasted style, volume, soundness, and performance to complement his exceptional EPD profile.
Lot 38, SGRI A117 Sioux City, was the second high seller at $7,750. Here was another black Balancer bull that had exceptional EPDs and was sired by the Angus breed favorite, SITZ Upward. Taking him home was Justin Reiter, Ellsworth, Minn. Justin also added Lot 43, SGRI A116 Newell for $5,000, a black Balancer sired by the infamous SAV Final Answer 0035.

Lot 54: SGRI A113 Mt. Vernon, a red Balancer, sired by JRI Heavy Equipment, sold to Dick McQueen, White Lake, S.D., for $6,000.
Lot 48: SGRI A118 Oacoma, a red Balancer, sired by Glacier Chateau 744, sold to Dick McQueen for $5,750.
Lot 42: SGRI A110 Mitchell, a black Balancer, sired by SAV Final Answer, sold to Kleinschmidt Farms, Geneva, Neb., for $5,750
Lot 39: SGRI A119 Onida, a black Balancer, sired by SITZ Upward, sold to Russell Krumvieda, White Lake, S.D., for $5,400.
Lot 9: SGRI A191 Tulare, a black Balancer, sired by LT In Reach 9024, sold to Dean Adrian, Maquoketa, Iowa, for $5,300
