The 42nd Annual Gelbvieh Gold Sale held in conjunction with the Iowa Beef Expo on February 10, 2015.
The high selling bull was Lot 37, CIBS POLAR 4127B whowas consigned to the sale by CIB’S Gelbvieh and purchased for $8,000 by Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He is the purebred 94 percent Gelbvieh, homozygous polled son of JDPD Astro 407S and is described as a low birth, high growth, powerhouse of a bull.
Lot 39, BAG 65B was brought to the sale by Bar Arrow Cattle Co. and sold to Eric Terstriep of Industry, Illinois for $6,500. This February 2014 born Balancer bull is a heterozygous black, homozygous polled son of CTR Sandman 6523S and ranks in the top 10 percent of the breed for yield grade, marbling, and ribeye area.
On the female side, Lot 10, JEMG MISS LIBBYwas the highest seller. The September 10, 2013 born, purebred 94 percent Gelbvieh female was consigned by J-Bar M Gelbvieh and purchased by C-Cross Cattle Company of Asheboro, North Carolina for $7,250. She is sired by JKGF Reflex X4 ET and is AI bred to calve in the fall of 2015.
The second highest selling female was Lot 2, pick of the herd from Sienknecht Cattle Co. This offer provided the buyer, Lost River Livestock of Clearbrook, Minnesota, with the opportunity to pick from any spring bred female at Sienknecht Cattle Co. This outstanding opportunity sold for $6,500.
