Gelbvieh Juniors Compete in Western Regional Show

The summer show season of the American Gelbvieh Junior Association (AGJA) began last weekend at the AGJA Cherokee Strip Western Regional show. The show was held May 27-29 at the Noble County Fairgrounds in Perry, Okla., and was hosted by the Oklahoma Gelbvieh Association. A total of 30 head were exhibited by 18 juniors from five states. Blake Bloomberg, Stillwater, Okla., evaluated the Gelbvieh females, Balancer® females and Gelbvieh bulls. Wravenna Bloomberg, also of Stillwater, judged the showmanship contest.

Braxton Oldenburg, Mulhall, Okla., exhibited the grand champion Gelbvieh female. GALG Miss Ellie 11X4 is an April 2010 daughter of Kevlar 18R3. This heifer first won the spring yearling female division.

Exhibiting the reserve grand champion Gelbvieh female was Keegan Darrow, Perkins, Okla., with FMGF Outta Da Blue 713X ET. This January 2010 daughter of Big N’ Rich 911P ET first claimed champion winter yearling female.

The grand champion bred and owned Gelbvieh female was exhibited by Brandon Oldenburg, Mulhall, Okla. OLDG Ms Josie 24X6 is a March 2010 daughter of Kevlar 18R3.

Emma McDonald, Rolla, Mo., exhibited the reserve grand champion bred and owned Gelbvieh female. EMMA Galaxy Star 2X is a March 2010 daughter of Pop A Top 197T83.

In the Balancer female show, Seth Beying showed the grand champion Balancer female. SDCG Ms Nugget 9405X is December 2010 calf, sired by Western Hauler 028S, who first claimed the senior heifer calf division. This heifer was also the grand champion bred and owned Balancer female for Beying.

The reserve grand champion Balancer female was exhibited by Chandler Ladner, Argonia, Kan. EBY Miss 7294T 9229W is a September 2009 daughter of S A V Bismarck 5682 and was first the champion senior female.

Tricia Goes, Odell, Neb., showed the reserve grand champion bred and owned Balancer female. TPMG Xana’Lady 30X is an April 2010 female sired by R Collateral 2R.

The grand champion Gelbvieh bull went to Jacob Rupp, Perry, Okla., with JERG 5X9, a March 2010 son of Apollo.

Elysia Bushey, Mountain Home, Ark., exhibited the reserve grand champion Gelbvieh bull. ELYB Mr Red Velvet 2X is a March 2010 son of Freedom 178F ET.

In the showmanship competition the age division winners are as follows: Braxton Oldenburg, champion junior; Brandon Oldenburg, reserve junior; Chandler Ladner, champion intermediate; Emma McDonald, reserve intermediate; Courtney Spencer, Aurora, Mo., champion senior; and Tricia Goes, reserve senior.
