2024 National Gelbvieh & Balancer® Sale

The 2024 National Gelbvieh and Balancer® Sale was held on Monday, January 1, 2024, in conjunction with the Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. An exceptional crowd was in attendance in the Super Barn Sale Arena to appraise the high-caliber Gelbvieh and Balancer genetics. Numerous active bidders were also online and made several purchases.

The sale was managed by Matt C. Sims Auctions, with Sims auctioneering off 23 lots. The sale grossed $205,000, with an average of $8,913 per lot.

 

Lot 6: TJB Anissa 579C 954C

$22,000

50% embryo interest in the TJB Gelbvieh donor, TJB Anissa 579C 954G, was purchased by Warner Beef Genetics of Arapahoe, Nebraska. This donor’s pedigree is stacked with elite donors who have influenced the majority of the TJB Gelbvieh herd, and this female is no exception.

 

Lot 2: Pick of Judd Ranch Inc. Pen Bulls

$20,000

Pick of the Judd Ranch Inc. pen bulls was purchased by K Lazy S Farms, Sulphur Springs, Texas. The buyer had the opportunity to choose any bull from the Champion Pen of Three Gelbvieh Bulls, Champion Pen of Five Gelbvieh Bulls, and the Champion Pen of Five Balancer Bulls.

 

Lot 1: TAU Golden Boy 262L

$16,500

The winner of the 2024 27th Annual Breeder’s Choice Gelbvieh Bull Futurity was purchased by Holle Gelbvieh of Oberlin, Kansas. This homozygous black, homozygous polled purebred has a unique pedigree backed by a tremendous look and genetic chart garnered the attention of futurity members.

 

Lot 4: BRAX Mr Kevlar K185

$12,000

Braxton Murray of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, offered half-possession and two-thirds semen interest of his 2023 American Gelbvieh Junior Association Great Dakota Classic Grand Champion Gelbvieh Bull. The bull was purchased by Bar Arrow Cattle Company of Phillipsburg, Kansas.

 

Lot 15: Warner Beef Genetics Pick of Fall Heifers

Warner Beef Genetics of Arapahoe, Nebraska, offered the pick of their 2023 fall born heifer calves. The buyer can pick from ET calves sired by TPG Frontrunner 2510F, TAU Top Shelf 150H, and CTR Integrity 0704H. AI and Natural Sires include CTR Integrity, DLW Glory 5141G, DLW Headline, DLW Justice 960J, DLW E Trade, SKY Encore, and DLW Fox News, many out of the top donors in the herd. The pick was purchased by Circle S Ranch of Canton, Kansas.

 

Lot 9A: HTFG Hilltops Lainey L381

$10,000

TJB Gelbvieh of Chickamauga, Georgia, won the bid off on the first female to be sold sired by the 2023 National Champion Gelbvieh Bull, HTFG Hilltops Hawkeye H064. This donor prospect ranks in the top four percent for birth weight and ranks in the top 10% for calving ease maternal and calving ease direct.
