2023 National Gelbvieh & Balancer Sale

The 2023 National Gelbvieh & Balancer Sale was held on Monday, January 2, 2023, in conjunction with the Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City. An exceptional crowd was in attendance in the Super Barn Sale Arena to appraise the high-caliber Gelbvieh and Balancer genetics. Numerous active bidders were also online and made several purchases.
The sale was managed by Matt C. Sims Auction, with Sims auctioneering off the 25 lots. The sale grossed $166,450, with an average of $6,658 per lot.
Lot 2 – $15,000
Pick of JRI Pen Bulls
Pick of the Judd Ranch pen bulls was purchased by Walter Teeter, Green Hills Gelbvieh, of Mt. Ulla, North Carolina. The buyer had the opportunity to choose any bull from the Champion Pen of Three Gelbvieh Bulls, Champion Pen of Five Gelbvieh Bulls, Champion Pen of Three Balancer Bulls, and Champion Pen of Five Balancer Bulls.
Lot 1 – $11,000
PHS Prohart Kryptonite 23K
The winner of the 2023 Breeder’s Choice Gelbvieh Bull Futurity was purchased by Diebler Gelbvieh of Mullen, Nebraska. This purebred, homozygous black, homozygous polled bull garnered the attention of futurity members with his exceptional phenotype and impressive genotype.

DLW Ms Wardon 2510Z ET Flush
Coles Bend Cattle of Smiths Grove, Kentucky, offered a conventional flush of DLW Ms Warson 2510Z ET to the bull of the buyer’s choice with a guarantee of eight embryos. The flush was purchased by Voss Farms of Bruning, Nebraska.
Lot 21 – $8,000
RSSL Hazy’s Kirin 22K Flush
Ayven Moon of Ellensburg, Washington, offered the first IVF flush of RSSL Hazy’s Kirin 22K to the sire of the buyer’s choice with a guarantee of a minimum of six embryos. The flush was purchased by Boehler Gelbvieh of Orleans, Nebraska.
Lot 16 – $7,000
CTR Miss 114K
This open Balancer heifer is one of the first progeny sired by CTR Ringgold 9770G to be offered by Cedar Top Ranch of Stapleton, Nebraska. The female was purchased by Scott Nottingham of Sulphur Spring, Texas.
Lot 7 – $6,750
CIRS 416J
Sauer Valley View Farm of Winina, Minnesota, won the bid-off on this red, homozygous rolled bred heifer sired by CIRS Right Time. The heifer was consigned by Circle S Ranch of Canton, Kansas.
Lot 8 – $6,750
CRLL SATERRAH 1757J ET
Dustin and Marlee Lanham Farms of Marion, Kentucky, purchased this daughter of JDPD Astro 407S. This red, homozygous polled, purebred female possesses an excellent phenotype and balanced EPDs. This female was consigned by Carroll Land & Cattle of Raymore, Missouri, and Nowack Cattle Company of Bland, Missouri.
