LINCOLN, Neb. – The American Gelbvieh Association (AGA) has represented Gelbvieh breeders for 55 years and has experienced much growth and advancement within the breed since its founding on June 28, 1971. Today, the AGA is excited to reveal the brand-new AGA logo suite that will serve the association and breed as they enter a new era of growth, awareness and recognition.

“The new AGA logo suite was designed to give the association and breed an image that individuals can associate with the breed while speaking to its strengths. Staying true to the green roots of the AGA, the new logo has a modern look with a female included to recognize the maternal strengths of the breed. This new logo will be used to create growth in breed awareness and recognition, as the AGA continues to work to spread the Gelbvieh message within the beef industry,” said Megan Underwood, AGA communications coordinator.

The new AGA logo suite highlights the maternal strengths of Gelbvieh-influenced females as they offer maternal superiority through increased longevity, added fertility, and more pounds weaned per cow exposed. In addition, Gelbvieh-influenced females offer a reduced mature cow size, more maternal milk, greater calving ease, and reach puberty at an earlier age. Most notably, the United States Meat Animal Research Center released research findings regarding breed-specific heterosis for growth and carcass traits in 18 United States cattle breeds, and Gelbvieh-influenced females were the only Bos taurus females with a maternal weaning weight advantage. The data revealed Gelbvieh-influenced females had a maternal weaning weight advantage of 22.7 pounds.

The new AGA logo suite was created to showcase the maternal strengths of the Gelbvieh breed and will be utilized to establish breed awareness, growth, and recognition as the AGA enters its next era with an exciting new look.
