Rules for Calculating Percent Gelbvieh for Animals Born on or after
January 1, 2002

1. Sire and Dam contribute equally to offspring % Gelbvieh

2. Fullbloods (100%) can only be the result of two fullblood parents (FB Registry)

3. The maximum % Gv for non-fullblood Gv = 94

4. 94% Gelbvieh parents contribute 50% Gv to their offspring

5. Bulls that are 94% Gelbvieh and Females that are 88% or 94% Gelbvieh are considered Purebred Gelbvieh (PB Registry).

6. Purebred Gelbvieh females born on or after January 1, 2002 are recorded as either 88% or 94% Gelbvieh.  This Gelbvieh % is used in calculation of percent Gelbvieh for their progeny.  All registered purebred Gelbvieh born before January 1, 2002 are considered 94% Gelbvieh.

7. Animals with less than 88% Gelbvieh are automatically recorded in the Gelbvieh Hybrid Registry.  Qualifying hybrids are recorded as BalancersÒ.

8. Gelbvieh % is calculated based on the average of the parents rounded down if necessary to the nearest 1/8 with the exception of 94% (15/16).
